What Causes Severe Rigors With Cold?

Yesterday my wife (borderline diabetic) experienced severe rigors at about 4.30 PM and continued on till the evening up to 7.00 PM. This subsided only after giving her three spoons of sugar and two pieces of cadburys chocolate. She was complaining of severe cold and she was shivering uncontrollably. During this time he lips started to become slightly purple.

Hello welcome to HCM.
Your wife might have an episode of hypoglycaemia(low blood sugar).
MY ADVICE TO YOU -.
1.rigors and giddiness in diabetes patients usually suggest low blood sugar.. U have not mentioned whether she has taken any medication for diabetes or not. Because if she has taken any medicine then the dose should be reevaluated.
2 . rigors and coldness may be due to infection eg.UUrinary tract infection, so also kindly check for all routine reports like CBC and urine routine Micr.
3.Get an glucometer at home which measures blood sugar levels, so you get better idea about her sugar. And consult a physician for proper dosage and to rule out infection.
4 . check every 3 monthly FBS, PP2BS AND HBA1c report.
