What Causes Severe Sensitivity In The Foot After Waking Up?

For the past two or three months, when I first put my feet down on the floor when I get out of bed, my right foot has increased sensitivity to touching the floor, just the ball and the smaller toes of my right foot, not the left. After a second, it goes away and does not happen again until the next morning. It also sometimes happens while I am in bed and press my right foot against the foot board. Never the left foot. Any ideas? Steve McLaughlin

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is probably a foot corn or plantar fasciitis. The best way is to use a microcellular rubber or medicated slippers which are very soft throughout the day. Keep foot in warm water twice a day for 5 minutes. You will be fine soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suhas Chauhan
