What Causes Severe Stomach Pain After Taking Steroid Medicine?
I just finished taking a steroid that was 6 pills the first day and tapered down for the following 5 days. The first day I took 6 pills at once because I was not clear on how to take the pills. The second day I followed the directions and finished yesterday. I started to notice a stomach ache beginning on Saturday and progressively has gotten worse. Nothing is helping the pain. I also have severe low back pain. Any thoughts?
Brief Answer: You need to undergo fibrogastroscopy.
Detailed Answer: Hello, Thank you for using HCM. Steroid treatment is a potential risk factor for gastritis or gastric ulcer, due to the stimulation of gastric acid secretion. Therefore I suggest you to undergo fibrogastroscopy and consult a gastro-enterologist.
Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you need more clarifications. Otherwise please close and rate the answer. Kind Regards, Dr. Juarda
