Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Stomach Pain, Nausea And Dizziness?
have had nausea/ dizziness bouts for some years sporatically. for the last three nights have woken with severe stomach pain and dizziness. Saw doctor yesterday and he proscribed Lorazepam 1 mg to aid sleep. Unable to sleep entire night stomach even more painful. Nausea very strong. not vomiting. Unable to eat over last three days except for very small amounts.
Based on the history you have shared, the symptoms can't be just due to disturbed sleep but due to some organic pathology in stomach and inflammation of stomach lining called gastritis can be one of the most likely causes.
Using antacids like Omeprazole and motility agents like Domperidone can be helpful. For pain, only OTC analgesic like Acetaminophen can be safely used. If symptoms persist, ultrasound abdomen and liver functions can be done.
Also, electrolytes loss with vomiting can cause dizziness so oral rehydration salts can be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
General & Family Physician
