Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Sweating Behind Knees And Elbows When Diagnosed With Hidradenitis?
I wake up drenched in sweat. The only areas that are sweating are behind the knees and in my elbow bends. I mean dripping with it. I have hydradentitis. I know I might be spelling it wrong, but I don t normally sweat. I am a 44 year old woman and my menstrual cycle has not changed. Any ideas
You have a condition called hidradenitis which has an association with people who have something called as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). It would be wrong to assume that your condition of hydradenitis has lead to excessive sweating over elbows and behind knees however people having hyperhidrosis have a tendency to have hydradenitis. There is no significant medical treatment available for hyperhidrosis. A surgical option of sympathectomy is useful, if required and indicated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
