Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Swelling In Feet, Ankles And Calf While On Antibiotics?
I have had heart palipitations for years. Never been tested besides an ekg which showed nothing. I was put on 25mg Atenlol then moved to twice a day, then 50 mg twice a day then 100mg all at once. Still had palipitaions so changed to 100 mg metaproporal (not sure about the spelling) still not working. For the last 4-5 days my feet, ankles and calfs have been severly swollen. I do take blood pressure meds, but my blood pressure was 140/? when put on hydrochlorathiazide 25 mg day. My question is why would my feet and legs swell like that?
Swelling on your feet and ankles could be related to :
- internal organ issues: kidney/liver/heart problems
- bad local blood circulation (varicose vein)
- soft tissue inflammation/infection
So, we need to medically check the feet and legs, the function of your internal organs. Discuss this further with your caring doctor. Keep your feet raised, avoid standing for long time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
