What Causes Severe Swelling In The Legs?

I am hving horrible swelling in my leg and foot. I just had 13 lymph nodes removed from thigh. It was Melanoma. Its been 1month already,swelling just started a few days ago. Is there any quick way to get it down. It feels like its going to split. I hve leg elevated now.

Hello,

It could be due to the cancer; it certainly is due to the surgery. Fluid seeps out of vessels, there are passive collection vessels called lymphatics that allow the seepage to come back out.

This is gone if lymph nodes are messed up or removed.
cannot say in your particular case and heart disease, lung disease or liver diease can cause edema. this would be in both feet.
