What Causes Severe Throat Pain And Nasal Dryness After Septoplasty?

I just had a septoplasty 13 days ago. I came down with a virus a week ago. When I sleep I wake an hour later with extreme pain in my throat. So bad I don t want to sleep. When I look in my throat I have a dark purple red vein on the side that hurts. My nose is too dry to breath through even though inuse saline. I m sleeping with a cool most humidifier. What can I do?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe throat pain and nasal dryness after septoplasty. Well the symptoms you mention in query ar possible complications of septoplasty like nasal obstruction , perforation , collection of blood in the nasal space or infection , which can firther leads to throat pain and nasal dryness . I would suggest you to consult your surgeon again for proper examination and correction agsin . Doctor may order CT scan , nasal endoscopy or throat swab test along with viral culture test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin or penicillin alog with anti inflammatory . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and do warm saline gargles .
