Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to the doctor yesterday as I am feeling usually tired all the time. My blood pressure was 132/80, the nurse said this was good? Doctor is doing blood work to rule out a few things. Is 132/80 normal? and what should I do so that I don t get high blood pressure? I have had a vertebral artery dissection in the last year. Worried something else might be going on. Neurologist told me my Vertebral artery dissection/stroke was a fuke, just a one off. I do get concerned. Any advice
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, you don't need to worry much. BP 132/80 is almost normal. Obviously one is slightly anxious during a visit to a hospital. Therefore, minor BP alterations don't warrant treatment. To avoid high BP in the future control salt intake and manage weight. It is advisable to avoid smoking and excessive alcohol. Take care, Regards
