What Causes Severe Vertigo In A Person Diagnosed With Labyrinths?

Last week I took my husband to the emergency room by ambulance, he had severe vertigo, to the point he could not sit up or stand, the diagonosed Labrynthis, but he also has some other symtoms, the last six months he has had chronic diareaha and now the joints in his hands are swelling, we are trying to understand if all of these symtoms are connected. He has had no ear infections or pain in his ear?
