Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been experiencing a sudden severe vertigo during my sleep last night when I rolled over. It was a very intense spinning sensation to where I thought I would fall out of bed and vomit. Once I settled onto my side, it subsided enough for me to fall back asleep, but continued each time I rolled or moved my head again. It has continued throughout the day and is especially bad when I lay flat on my back or lean forward, even the slightest bit. I ve not been sick recently and have no other symptoms.
Hi Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic for your health issues.
As per your description of symptoms, possible diagnosis is Benign Peroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). For confirmation you have to consult ENT surgeon who by doing some test will confirm it.
No need to worry in this condition. Tablet betahistine 16 mg OR prochlorperazine 5 mg can be taken for vertigo initially.
Along with this he/she will teach you some exercises of eyeball and neck. Along with it epley's maneuver (method can be searched from google) will also be advised. Initially it will cause vertigo, but eventually by repeating this maneuver vertigo will be relieved.
I hope this will help you.
Regards Dr. Hiren
