Hello,
According your concern you should know that this is a
chronic diarrhea ( longer than 4 weeks). The most probably cause of the chronic diarrhea are impaired digestion of fats due to low pancreatic enzyme levels (chronic
pancreatitis) and impaired absorption of fats due to small bowel disease (
celiac disease, Crohn morbus).
Infections leading to chronic diarrhea are uncommon, with the exception of parasites (giardiasis). In this situation you need hospitalisation and do an physical examination by a doctor, abdominal echo, fibrogastroscopy and
colonoscopy, and some lab exam like full blood count, electrolytic level, azotemi,
creatinine, stool sample, to see the presence of fat, parasites, microscopic amounts of blood, and white blood cells (will help determine if a fatty, inflammatory, or watery diarrhea is present).
You should do these examination to find the main cause of this situation and to control for complications (renal impairment).
I hope my answer help you. Let me know if I can assist you further. I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Monika Dede
