Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is 93 years old. She has not felt good for a few days. Today she has been really weak and basically cannot walk without help. When she gets up she almost passes out and without someone holding her she would definitely go down. Her pcp had her taking 1 mododrine per day. When she was in the hospital not too long ago the doctor thereput her on 2 pills per day. I know her pcp said it would lower her blood pressure which is why he only had her on 1 pill. Could this be one reason she is so weak? She also is sleeping a lot
It seems that she is probably taking BP medication. This could possibly lower the blood pressure.
The fact that she seems to have difficulty in getting up from bed without help further seems to suggest that her BP needs to be checked again. I think she may be developing vertigo when she gets up.
I think she's developing low BP and needs the dose readjusted. Please get her BP checked with postural BP. I would have liked to recommend the new dose.
But without the actual BP readings and the names of the current medication, it would be better to get it done by her PCP. I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
