What Causes Severe Weakness In Legs After Having Pneumonia?

My legs are very weak after having pneumonia in all four chambers. Hospitalized for 5 days & ights. I have been going to physical therapy for 4 weeks and it has not helped very much I have done water therapy and equipment therapy . Three years ago i had left & right knee replacements. I just get out I f breath & fill like my knees are going to collapse. In the water therapy I do not breath hard but on solid ground I start breathing very hard.Any suggestions.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering from severe weakness in legs after having pneumonia. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like multiple sclerosis , diabetic neuropathy , pinched nerve , disc problem or side effect of some medicine . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination.Doctor may order blood test along with nerve conduction test along with CT scan and MRI of spine . Doctor may order nerve supplement along with anti inflammatory , physical therapy , . Doctor may also recommend surgery in case of severe disc problem . Also consult chest specialist for pneumonia , who may order chest x-ray , blood test and sputum test . For now drink plenty of water and eat healthy .
