Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 78 year old male. A large lipoma was removed from my right (mid) rectus femoris in early nineties. Presently, I m experiencing considerable chronic weakness in of my right leg when walking or standing. Could the weakness of my right leg now, be caused by damage to the rectus femoris muscle when the lipoma was surgically removed? Recent ultra sound indicates a regrowth of a small lipoma in the same location of the one removed. Is there any treatment and/or procedure to strengthen my right rectus femoris? Thank you, Art Contessotto

What Causes Severe Weakness In The Right Leg?
Hi, No, I don t think your current right lower limb weakness is due to lipoma removal surgery in the past. This weakness is mostly due to fresh lipoma one their same side. So better to get done surgical removal of this lipoma. Start physiotherapy for muscle strengthening. This will definitely help in weakness of right leg. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
