What Causes Severe Wheezing Despite Having Chronic Asthma, anemia And COPD?

I am a 52 year old female with chronic asthma, chronic anemia, copd and thyroid disease. I ve been off my thyroid meds for about three months now. Over the past few weeks I have become very weak, have a lot of swelling in my hands, face and legs. My breathing isn t good, lots of wheezing and everyday I am putting on weight. One day it was eight pounds more than the day before. I am waiting to get in to see my doctor but there was a two month waiting list due to several doctors being out on leave at the same time. I am really very concerned. I do have an appointment on Friday morning.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Severe wheezing is an exacerbation of chronic asthma condition and needs to be evaluated clinically with auscultation, chest X-ray and pulmonary function tests. However, primary relief with steroid shot and inhaled bronchodilator with or without steroids would be best relief with your primary care provider.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
