Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doc, Please, I have some questions to ask. I am active almost everyday, as in I run, go to the gym and just workout. Lately, I have noticed my right hand, sniff and shaky. Also my two legs tend to shake, especially if I am on my tippy toes. I also have itchy body especially on my back and my arms. Do you have a idea what that might be? Many thanks!
The most common cause of shaky hands is essential tremor. This is a neurological disorder which causes frequent, uncontrolled shaking, especially during movement and all the investigation results of the patient are normal.
Other causes of shaky hands include anxiety and seizures. Shaking in the hands, arms, legs, or head is one common symptom of Parkinson's disease which is a neurological disease of elderly that affects movement. It's caused by damage to nerve cells that produce the chemical Dopamine which is a neurotransmitter that normally keeps movements smooth and coordinated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
