What Causes Sharp Abdominal Pain In A Person With Stage3 Kidney Failure?

My wife has sharp abdominal pain on both left and right sides. I leaves when she eats something or drinks milk. A sonogram detected no anomalies. Neither did a CT Scan. She has been referred to a gastroenterologist. Appointment has to be made Monday. After she had Thanksgiving dinner, the pain resumed and slowly increased in intensity. We think it may be a deuodinal ulcer. She currently is in stage 3 kidney failure. Any thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain after dinner might be in concern with gastric ulcer most likely and not duodenal ulcer because the pain of later is relieved by meals. However, it is best recommended to undertake discussion of need of an upper GI endoscopy if the latest renal function tests are okay to induce her short general anesthesia or else option of local anesthetic may be demand of time.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
