What Causes Sharp Abdominal Pain On The Right Side?

Three days ago, I woke up with really painful stomach pains, mostly in the centre of my abdomen, and towards the lower right side. It was an achy pain and hurt more when I pressed on it, or twisted my torso. I also felt slightly nauseous and feverish. I went to work, and it persisted, so I decided to go to the hospital. They did blood work and said my white blood cell count was a bit high, and I could have a gallstone or appendicitis. I was shaking on and off at this point, and had the chills. They gave me a needle in each arm, for pain and sent me home. The next day I felt a lot better. Yesterday, I had an ultrasound, which was very, very painful, especially when they pressed over my appendix area. They couldn t find my appendix in the ultrasound, and didn t see any inflammation, or other issues, so they sent me home again. Last night, I started to feel cramping throughout my abdomen, but only temporarily. Today, I ve been feeling sharp pains in the lower right side, but nothing too bad so far. I feel nauseous on and off and my temperature is at 99.7. I m wondering if I should seek medical attention again, but the doctor said yesterday, that the next step would be to get a cat scan, which he didn t recommend, as it wouldn t be good for my ovaries. Where should I go from here?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that it can be a food poisoning or acute colitis kind of thing. I'll suggest you to take some antibiotics and Fever medication SOS. Take soft and liquid diet for 3-4 days to minimise the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap, Cardiologist
