What Causes Sharp Burning Sensation Behind The Navel?

I have a sharp, burning sting from behind my belly button in a straight line down. I have had this issue for 20 or so years, but have never had it looked at. It only flairs up once in a while, but it causes difficulty in bending over and stretching. What could this be? A hernia?

Yes,this is possible umbilical hernia or omohalitis and you should do ultrasound to rule this out. Sometimes there may be some omphalic cyst. All this can be treated surgically if required so you should consult surgeon about appropriate treatment.
