What Causes Sharp Chest Pain In The Center Of Chest?

I just turned 38. Recently, (1 week), I began experiencing a sharp chest pain, in the center of my chest...which lingered thereafter. Once, disconcerting, but not alarming. Now it's been a week and what didn't concern me then, is beginning to concern me now.

Hello
Since your age is 38 years and pain in the chest .
You should be worried but not too much .
You are having chest pain , this pain may be due to these possibilities , these includes.
1 Coronary artery disease , although pain is in the center of chest but may be due to coronary artery disease . Diagnosis can be confirmed by E K G & echocardiogram .
2 Hyper acidity or esophagitis may be the nest reason so clinical history is important . So consult a physician and get his opinion as physical examination is very important .
3 Chondritis is another such cause ( pain in sternum ) .
In my opinion consult a physician / Cardiologist and get their opinion.
Good luck.
