What Causes Sharp Chest Pain Radiating To The Back And Left Arm?
Hi, I need some help. I'm a 25 year old female. 5ft 6, 105 lbs. Previously healthy, no family history of cardiac problems. For the past couple of years I have been suffering from severe left sided chest pain. It's sharp, sometimes radiates to my back and left arm. It occurs randomly. Always at rest. Lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes and will come and go throughout the day. Sometimes it even wakes me up in my sleep. I've had multiple normal EKGs, a stress test, echocardiograms, and worn a holter monitor. All came back normal but this won't go away. It causes extreme anxiety. Please help!
Does it increase on deep breathing or any associated cough. Since cardiac work up is negative and I guess you must have undergone chest x-ray and it was normal. Have you got your blood pressure checked in both upper limbs and there should not be a difference of 10, this is rule out aortic dissection.
Next thing to consider is gastritis and reflux disease. So avoid fatty, oily and high calorie diet. Have some walk after having food instead of taking rest. Have multiple small meals instead of heavy meals. Have regular sleep habits and avoid stress. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits, fish once or twice a week, and avoid meat. Avoid smoking and alcohol if any. You can get prescribed tab Pantoprazole.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sagar Makode
