Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last winter my son-in-law had a bad bout with flu. After the flu symptoms went away he suffered with high CPK levels, he was muscle tired, weak and his liver and kidney enzymes were high. It took approximately 3 months for him to recover with much rest. Now he finds out that his CPK levels are at about 800 and he is worried sick. Doctor s never found out any cause for his levels last year.
Hello dear, CPK is a creatine phosphokinase enzyme. It has a three form CK-BB: released from brain CK-MB:heart and skeletal muscle CK-MM: skeletal muscle. Normal values are usually between 60 and 174 IU/L. It is rise in muscle injury, myocardial infraction, rhabdomyolysis, myocarditis. It may be rise after exercise and muscle contraction during collection of blood.
So in your case it may be due to muscle injury in your case. Please do Kidney test immediately as Protein released from muscle can damage your kidney. Drink plenty of fluids. Test your urine report and liver function test again to exclude the cause.
So please repeat the test for both CPK total and specific form of it.
Hope this may help you. Take care.
