Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sharp Knee Pain After Taking Cortisone Injection?
I had a partial knee replacement 6 months ago, I was in my car and had to slam on my brakes now my knee hurts behind the knee and also on the sides of my knee cap. It swells up later in the day and feels warm. I just had a cortisone injection but i still have sharp pain I am confused.
The symptoms seem to be related to inflammation of the knee. I suggest using anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application and maintain the area elevated. You should rest and the the knee to heal properly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
