Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Experiencing sharp pain and ringing in the ear while suffering from cold is quite a common phenomenon. It is due to acute
otitis media - infection of middle ear. Perforation might not have taken place right now, because, perforation would relieve pain and cause
ear discharge. Pain is mainly due to pressure on the tympanic membrane.
This is because congestion and infection of the throat can easily spread to middle ear via Eustachian tube, causing ear symptoms.
Treatment remains the same. You may take the following medications:
1. Nasal decongestant syrup containing bromhexine,
chlorpheniramine maleate and Guaniphesin - 2 teaspoon 3 times a day.
2. Tablet.
Azithromycin once a day for 3 days.
3. Salt water gargling with warm water twice daily.
By 3 to 5 days, your symptoms should subside.
Hope the information is clear and useful.
Wish you good health.
