What Causes Sharp Pain And Tenderness In Right Side Chest?

Hi I have recently started getting a sharp random pain in my right side. It has slowly moved up my side over the past couple days and is now just to the side of my right breast. The skin feels extremely tender to the touch. Every now and again I will get a sharp, abrupt stabbing/stinging pain and need to have a water bottle to help ease the tenderness. It is starting to concern me. My GP has stated it could be shingles but he has stated that as it has travelled it could be a pulled muscle. I am 60+. I am just concerned as the sharing pain and tenderness can be a little unbearable at times.

Hello,

Pain and tenderness in the right side of the breast may be indicative of inflammatory breast tumor. You are suggested to get all required investigations (mammogram, ultrasound, MRI and biopsy) done. Your treatment will depend on the clinical condition and reports obtained from your investigations.

If you have a history of Shingles then shingle rash can affect the breast or one side of the body and cause sharp pain and tenderness. Anti-viral medicines such as valacyclovir (Valtrex), acyclovir (Zovirax), taken orally, are usually used to treat shingles.
