What Causes Sharp Pain Around The Navel?

Hello I have just noticed today that i have a pain right above my bellybutton that shoots down right above my vagina. It is a sharp pain. It isnt happening now, but I went on an hour walk earlier and started to unload groceries and noticed that i had this sharp pain. This isnt the first time, I usally ignore it because it happens around my period, so i figured it was just cramps.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your query.

This could be due to variety of causes like muscle strain, appendix problems, infections, ovarian problems etc.

If you are having burning sensation on passing urine or any nausea or vomiting then it could be urinary tract infection or appendicitis.

Muscle strain is more common. Avoid lifting heavy weights or straining. You can apply warm soaks to the painful area, pain killer gels for relief.

You could see an Orthopaedic surgeon and get a through examination and help find the cause for the same.

Thanking you.

Regards,

Dr. Aashish Aashish
