What Causes Sharp Pain Behind The Head?

This may sound stupid but I recently started having some itching on the top of my head. It now has gone to being very painful. Sometimes it is almost like someone is putting pressure on it. I recently flew and when we were coming in for landing I had this sharp pain shoot up right behind my ears up the back of my head. It was very painful. Maybe it is nothing but you kind of know your body when something is not right.

Hi,

The pains while landing could be due to the problems the ear and semicircular canals face when we land so that might be normal. But itching always indicates some kind of infection or inflammation so you should consult a dermatologist for that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita,
