Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sharp pains beneath my right breast. Very random seem to come in spells. Several episodes at a time then they seem to go away for days or even a couple of weeks. Then bam they hit again. Hurts so bad it makes me tear up and lose my breath. Holding my breath leaning forward and pressing on my chest wall under my boob seems to help sometimes.
These pains might be caused by several conditions from muscular pain to stomach or gallbladder problems and rarely by what you explain it can be caused from the lungs.
It is important for you to see a doctor and have a good check to better determine the cause of the pain. If the doctor suspects the stomach or the gall bladder to be the cause he might ask for abdominal ultrasound and also for an upper endoscopy to examine the stomach. For muscular pain generally no other examinations are needed other then physical examination in the office.
Meanwhile you can take some paraacetamol and ibuprofen to help with the pain and omeprazole as well. Make sure you eat frequent small amount of food during the day and avoid acid food or junk food and take fruit and vegetable, avoid alcohol and smoking as well and coffee or energy drinks that might irritate the stomach.
I hope this answers your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
