What Causes Sharp Pain In Abdomen Post Menopause?

I m 53 years old, post menopause and suddenly I am experiencing a sharp pain that comes and goes on the right side of my abdomen at about the level of my right ovary. I don t have a fever or any other symptoms. It just started a couple of hours ago. The pain lasts for a few seconds, then it stops for several minutes before it comes back. Do you have any idea of what it might be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many medical conditions that cause the pain in the abdomen post menopause. It can be a sign if an underlying condition such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, constipation, or ovarian or uterine cancers. I suggest to do a pelvic ultrasound and a visit at the gynecologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
