What Causes Sharp Pain In Back Followed To Leg?

I hurt myself about 5days ago and I have not been able to walk normally since and its getting worse. I have not went to a doctor or the emergency room yet. I have a bad back anyway and the pain shoots up my back into my legs and it is very sharp pain. I cannot put weight on my right leg at all. Do you have any ideas as to what it could possibly be and should I get to the emergency room right away?
