What Causes Sharp Pain In Hip Radiating To Leg?

I began having pain in my front part of my hip on my left leg yesterday after doing some painting in my home; while painting I was squatting, bending, and kneeling. the pain came on suddenly and was not bad at first just achey. The pin has progressed especially after driving to and from work. I can now not find a comfortable position to alleviate the pain and it is becoming unbearable. All I can compare it to is dislocating my shoulder, it is the same sharp pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
Most common cause of such pain is due to compression or irritation of sciatic nerve causing a pain - Sciatica. It has a characteristic pins and needles sensation.

Kindly consult an orthopaedician .They shall advice for an X Ray of the lumbar region .

Medications given for this are Non Steroidal antiinflammatory drugs . Also Physiotherapy may be advised.
Thanks
