What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Shoulder Blade While Taking Deep Breaths?

My left shoulder blade on the outer right side of it and down a little bit, is having sharp pains and feels like someone has something jabbing it down in that area. It hurts to me when I take deep breaths or realy just simple breaths. Its also sending a pain up my neck under my jaw. Any idea what this is ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

I would first advise you to report to a clinic or medical center at the earliest for an EKG. Once a cardiac cause is ruled out, you can ask them for an infectable form of pantoprazole which should help reduce your symptoms.

If the cardiac cause is ruled out, we can suspect a gasteic cause like hyperacidity, acid reflux, gastritis, hiatus hernia, etc. Lifestyle modifications will be in order with stopping alcohol and smoking, avoid spicy/fried/fatty/oily food, avoid stress, drink plenty of water, avoid overeating, have 5-6 smaller meals instead of 2-3 larger ones, lose weight if you are overweight or obese, etc. And request your doctor for antacids.

Best wishes.
