Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sharp Pain In Leg Radiating Towards Knee And Ankle?
I had ankle surgery 9 months ago. To remove scar tissue and debriment from a severe sprain in 2010. I had two surgeries on the same right ankle to correct the issue. One in 2012 and most recently in July 2014. And I have not received feeling in my first three toes as well as the complete top of my foot. I still get these sharp pains that run on the outside of my leg up to my lower knee and down to the area of the surgery. There is consistent inflammation and burning sensation that feels like needles. Its difficult to where socks and bed sheets irritate it. I have been in a cam boot walker for 9 months because of the pain and lack of stability in the affected area. I need help. I take oxcoydone for pain. About 5 or 6 per day. Please advise.
Well, it can be due to nerve damage which is giving you these symptoms. But more importantly it could be your back that has disc prolapse that is giving referred pain to leg. Visit nearby pain management. There are various options to manage pain including sympathectomy. Do discuss with some specialist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
