Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter runs track in high school. She has been complaining of on-again/off-again sharp pain in her left ankle since last Wednesday. She ran in a track meet Saturday and her ankle was swollen Saturday night. The swelling went away after we rested it and iced it. She says she still has the sharp pain sometimes today. Is it time to have it checked out by a doctor?
Dear; This seems to be a sprain or muscular injury whic is very common in track runners. U can use elastocrepe along with pain killer and muscle relaxants for 7 days. If not relieved ; get a xray done....and visit an orthopedic surgeon. Ice application will also help. No running for 7-10 days as it may extend the damage. Thanks
