Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 57 years old, female,178 lbs. for the past two days I have been having sharp short pains in my left chest under my breast. I also have been nauseous after eating. I am on antidepressant medicine, lexapro, Livalo for high cholesterol and kolopin for seizures which I have had twice in the last three up years.
Shooting pains of any sort and pains actually over the heart that is to say the left side of your chest are hardly ever related to problems with the heart. This is one of those strange things, because the nerves from the heart originate in the centre of the chest, so when there is heart trouble it is in the middle of the chest that pain is felt, and this is not sharp, but dull or like a squeezing sensation.
The pain can be due to anything starting from a simple gastritis to lung infection! i would suggest you to get a ECG done for time being!
