What Causes Sharp Pain In The Ear?

I m having shooting pain in my ear for a while now. The left side of my face is swollen and a little droopy. My body is lethargic and it feels like an electric shock in my ear. I ve been using ear drops and am on a z pack...nothing is helping. My circulation is awful. Could I have shingles??

Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an ear infection. I see that you have already taken an antibiotic treatment. I would add tot he treatment a painkiller such as Ibuprofen to take three times a day. The shingles does not cause ear pain, so it is very unlikely to be shingles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
