Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been getting sharp, stabbing pains in my left ear for about 6 hours so far. I went to a walk-in clinic and a NP didn't see any signs of an ear or throat infection. She suggested using a saline spray. Is there anything else to do for this type of pain?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sharp pain in the ear which seems to be due to untreated ear infection and it could be due to loud voice as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep your ears dry and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. Do Not prick ear with any sharp object. You should consult ENT specialist for proper checkup and doctor will examine ear with otoscope and rule out causes like wax buildup and temporomandibular problem. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin) at least for 7 days along with anti inflammatory medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
