What Causes Sharp Pain In The Jaw While Eating And Talking?
I got slapped across the face last night and I woke up this morning and it still hurts I have sharp pain when talking sometimes or eating. It feels like it's full of water that just won't drain. It didn't bleed or anything just hurts wanted to know if I needed to see a doctor or just wait it out
As per your complain pain in jaw after trauma can be due to injury to the jaw joint that can be due to various causes like jaw joint dislocation, dislocation of articular disc that is present as a soft cushion between the two bony ends of jaw joint, jaw fractures. I would suggest you to consult an oral surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x-ray can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly.
As of now take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone and along with it do cool compresses over the jaw joint. Take a soft diet. Avoid excessive mouth opening.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
