What Causes Sharp Pain In The Knee Upon Walking?

I am exp. difficulty in my knee. in the medial area approx. halfway I have a crazybone type sensation. I have to locate by feeling around with pressure from my finger. when I hit the spot I get a sharp type pain which subsides after removal of finger it does bother me sometime when I walk or come in contact with the area. most times no problem.
