What Causes Sharp Pain In The Left Hand Upon Breathing Deeply?

Does this sound like a muscular injury? Ever since falling over in the shower I feel a sharp pain in the left hand side on my back whenever I breath in deeply (it s actually hard to say where the pain is, I can t feel where it s sore, the pain feels internal and it s hard to pinpoint where exactly it is but it feels like it s in my back area) And when I lie down it doesn t hurt at all when I breathe out, when I stand up it kills. Any idea what s wrong with me?

Hi,

No fall or injury should be taken lightly. In fact, you need to visit a doctor, preferably orthopaedician so that clinical examination and an Xray chest PA view will help them detect any problems like a fracture.

Until then you can take an over the counter anti-inflammatory pain killer like acetaminophen 500mg (Tylenol) or apply an over the counter topical anti-inflammatory cream or spray like diclofenac to reduce the pain and inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
