What Causes Sharp Pain In The Left Rib Area After Exercise?
I was doing incline leg presses at the gym and felt a sharp discomfort in the posterior left rib area. Was not to bad and was able to work out around it. 4 days later I coughed and felt a sharp stabbing pain and it is worse. It hurts to lift my left leg and bend torso sideways to the right. I try to avoid sneezing. It s been a week. Will rest help, or should I bind my ribcage?
Hello, While working on incline leg press, we apply force by legs on hard platform but same time some people push body towards the resting cushions. U might have pushed your body on resting cushion which might have created hard impact on rib cage and spine. In your case Orthopedic specialist's consultation is mandatory. Treating physician will examine thoroughly and ask chest x-ray if required. Treating physician may prescribe you some NSAID and anti inflammatory medication and suggest alternative remedy. By the time stop heavy physical exercise.
Thanks & Take Care, Dr. Suraj D.
