What Causes Sharp Pain In The Right Side Upon Burping?
Every time I burp there is a very sharp stabbing pain in my right side that makes it hard to breath and is making me nauseous. I have had my gallbladder removed, am on gabapentin for stomach nerve damage during the surgery and recently had a colonoscopy & endoscopy. The pain is very severe. Any ideas on the cause?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Sharp pain on right side of abdomen that causes difficulty in breathing is suggestive of pain arising from pleura. Pleura is a double layered structured which envelopes the lungs. Infection or inflammation of the pleura can cause pain in the chest region. I suggest you to consult a physician for X-ray chest and ultrasound abdomen. Ultrasound abdomen is required to assess the abdominal organs and look for any any organomegaly or any other abnormality. A complete chest examination is also required by a chest physician. Thus, consult a physician or preferably pulmonologist (or chest physician) for chest assessment since the pain is likely to arise from chest.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
