What Causes Sharp Pain In The Upper Abdomen Radiating Towards Back?

I have experienced sharp pain in my upper abdomen right under the breast area which radiated to the back. It passed in 5 minutes. I have had this symptom before but this time I passed out. I have had my heart checked out and that seems to be fine. What might be the cause?
