What Causes Sharp Pain In The Upper Back Area?

I have a herniated cervical disc bulging at c5-c7. I m on gabapentin 2100mg daily for nerve pain. I know I m totally constipated from the motrin 800 taken daily 3x a day. I have small pellets when I go, but this morning I have an unusual really sharp pain in my mid upper back, and the sharp pain is closer to the right and down my right arm like a burning twist...can this sharp pain that burns and feels like a tear be caused by long term constipation? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can consider analgesics like gabapentin as it is more effective for this condition:

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated. In severe cases, steroid injection to the spine may be the only option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
