What Causes Sharp Pain On The Left Side Of The Head?

Hello, for the past week I have had sharp pains that come and go on the left side of my head. Sometimes the pain is worse when I feel throbbing, they last a few seconds at a time (which seems like an eternity) I am very concerned because nothing seems to help but the stabbing pains come and go. What can it be? I am really scared because it has been 1 week exactly and they seem to be getting worse.

It can be migraine. Migraine usually presents with unilateral headache with a few episodes of vomiting in a few number of patients. It aggravates by noise and light. There is a variation of symptoms.
