What Causes Sharp Pain Under The Breast While Taking Deep Breaths?

Hi, I sometimes have a sharp pain on my right side under my breast cage such that I can t take a deep breath or move until it goes away. Other times I think I can feel a slight bulge or bump in that same area and it is a dull pain. I have had a kidney stone last year that I couldn t pass (.5mm) so it was removed surgically and a stent put in for two weeks but I don t feel like it is associated with that area. I have been drinking a lot of water every day and have no other symptoms.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Anterior chest wall discomfort below breast, which becomes more with deep breathing can be related to intercostal muscle or ligament most likely rather than kidney related.

Primary care with local analgesic spray and analgesic medications if pain scale is above 3 out of 10. Consult your doc as per the need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
