What Causes Sharp Pain When Anus Is Clenched?

I get a sharp sort of pain when i clench my anus. I only mildly feel this pain when i pass stools, so im pretty sure its not an internal issue. When relaxed or sitting or standing, i rarely ever feel discomfort. Ive felt around the area and havent found anything unusual that i know of.
This symptom has persisted for 2-3 days, with today feeling a little worse. Any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Small mucosal tears or fissure in anus may lead to pain while contracting the anal sphincter. So, eating high fibre diet and drinking plenty of water is useful.

If your stool is hard then use laxative to soften it. If symptoms do not improve, please consult your doctor who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
