What Causes Sharp Stabbing Chest Pain?

I started having sharp stabbing chest pain while at work I lay down to rest for about 2 minutes when I got home and the pain stop this been on and off I was just having it not too long ago and I lay down I cant feel it anymore is in one area of my left side is doesn t spread anywhere else it gets to like my shoulder and then it s over should I be concerned or go to the emergency room?

Hi,
Pain in left side of chest is mostly due to either cardiac or gastric problem.
In gastric problem the pain is usually retrosternal and burning in sensation.
Usually it doesn't spread any where else and ia associated with vomiting.
Cardiac pain is due to decrease blood to heart..its usually associated with breathing difficult and spread to left shoulder and left arm.
It can be cutting pressuring or stabbing.
An echocardiogram at the time of pain will best diagnose it.
U can start a sorbitrate sublingual tablet along with omeprazole in bd dose.
