Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 20 years old and I have very sharp pain in the vaginal area toward the left and it hurts to move and walk or do anything. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend 2 days ago and it was also very painful and sharp and now I feel like it s swollen. I think I may have cut myself but I m not completely sure how because I felt it slightly before having sex with my boyfriend. I think the sex just made it worse. I m also bleeding because I started taking a new birth control on july 3 (now july 17) and I ve been consistently bleeding since then (i was supposed to start my period on july 3). Is that normal? When will that stop do you think? I know I don t have an STD and I m pretty sure I don t have a UTI. It does sting very badly when I go to the restroom and sometimes it just stings without me doing anything. I just really don t know what to do. I ve been trying cold compresses and some lukewarm baths but I don t know what to do otherwise. The pain makes me want to cry sometimes it s so painful. What should I do?
Hello, First of all you need to be 100% sure you are not pregnancy because this sounds like it could be an ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in the tubes) and that is very serious and needs medical attention immediately. If you take a pregnancy test and it is positive you need to go to Emergency right away. If it is not positive then you need to see a doctor as soon as you can to get a pelvic exam to determine the cause. We can't tell you what is wrong without an exam. Regards
